Let's begin with the hard truth, delivered softly:
Your vehicle is not allowed to drive during the event.
There. We said it.
Unless you are arriving. Or departing. Or moving your things from your car to your camp. That's it. That's the list. Your car is not a shuttle. Your truck is not a taxi. Your ATV is not a whimsical errand-runner. Once you unload, you park. Once you park, you stay parked. Your vehicle becomes a stationary sculpture, a storage unit, a silent metal companion until the event ends.

You knew there was an "unless." You felt it in your bones.
Behold, the Resonance Driving Pass form:
This is the sanctioned, official, bureaucratically-approved way to request permission to move a motorized vehicle during the event. Art cars. Mutant vehicles. Mobility scooters dressed as dragons. That golf cart you welded a flamingo to. All of it.
No pass? No driving. Your art car becomes art-that-happens-to-be-a-car. Still beautiful. Still valid. Just stationary. Like a very creative lawn ornament.
📋 What The Form Wants From You
Here's what awaits you on the other side of that link:
🪪 Your Identity (Multiple Layers)
Full Legal Name. The one on your driver's license. The one you use at the DMV. Yes, even if your art car is named something like "The Nebulous Crumpet."
Burner / Preferred Name. The one you actually answer to. The one people shout across a field at midnight when you're about to walk past covered in LEDs.
Email Address. The one you check. Please.
🎨 Your Glorious Conveyance
Art Car / Project Name. What do you call this thing? Give it a name worthy of its magnificence. "Dave's Golf Cart" is technically a name, but so is "The Chromatic Behemoth of Infinite Groove." Aim somewhere in between.
Short Description. What is it? What does it do? What service does it render to the community? Does it play music? Does it give rides? Does it shoot flames? Does it serve tiny pancakes? Tell us. We want to know.
How Often Will You Drive It? Are you a gentle cruiser doing one sunset lap per day, or are you planning to orbit the event like a very committed moon? Be honest. The form can sense lies.

Which of the following applies to your creation?
Provides a mobile music platform. You've got speakers and you're not afraid to use them.
Heavily modified vehicle to look like a mutant vehicle. It no longer resembles its original form. The DMV would weep.
Will provide rides for others besides the driver. You're not just joyriding solo. You're a community resource.
You can select multiple. The more boxes you check, the more convincing your case.
🔥 The Serious Questions
Do you have a Leave No Trace plan? Yes or no. (The correct answer is yes. If your art car sheds parts like a nervous chihuahua, sort that out first.)
Does your art car have any fire effects? Yes or no. (If yes, you're going to have additional conversations with people who care very deeply about fire safety. Prepare yourself.)
🚗 Wait, What About Mobility Vehicles?
If you have a legitimate mobility need, a disability, an injury, a condition that makes walking the event grounds difficult or impossible, that is not an art car. That is a necessity. And you should still reach out so we can make sure you're accommodated properly.
The driving pass form is primarily for art cars, mutant vehicles, and other creatively modified things that want to roam. Mobility needs are handled with the care and discretion they deserve. Please reach out to us if you have mobility issues.
⚖️ The Rule, Restated
Let's be absolutely clear, because clarity is kindness:

If you don't have a driving pass, you unload, you park, and your vehicle becomes a stationary friend until the event is over. No exceptions. No "but I just need to…" No "it'll only take a second." Park it. Leave it. Love it from a distance.
🧠 The Philosophy Behind This
Burning Man events are pedestrian-first. Reso is no different. The magic happens on foot, on bike, on wandering legs that stumble upon unexpected wonder. Cars kill that magic. Cars create dust, noise, danger, and the distinct vibe of a parking lot rather than a temporary city.
Art cars are the exception because they are the magic. They're not personal transportation, they're interactive art that happens to move. They're experiences, not errand-runners.
So if your vehicle genuinely contributes to the wonder of Reso, fill out the form. If it's just a car that you'd like to drive around for convenience, embrace the walk. Your legs will thank you. Your fellow burners will thank you. The event will feel more like an event and less like a highway rest stop.
📬 After You Submit
A real person will review your application. You won't receive an instant robot-generated approval. Someone will read your description, consider your LNT plan, and determine whether your vehicle belongs on the open dust.
If approved, you'll get instructions. If denied, you'll get an explanation. If more information is needed, someone will reach out.
In the meantime, go work on your art car. Add more lights. Consider a sound system. Ask yourself: would someone stop in their tracks and point at this thing? If the answer is yes, you're on the right track. If the answer is "maybe if they squint," keep building.

You need a ticket to be onsite. You need a driving pass to drive.
These are separate things. Having one does not grant you the other.
Ticket + Driving Pass = You, legally mobile, spreading joy from behind a steering wheel.
